OCTOBER - Purple Frog
With a pointed snout, round purple body, and a life spent almost entirely underground, the purple frog is unlike most amphibians you’ve ever seen. It emerges for only a brief period each year when monsoon rains arrive.
SEPTEMBER - Saola
Nicknamed the “Asian unicorn,” the saola is so elusive that even scientists have rarely seen one alive. Discovered only in 1992, this mysterious forest-dweller is now one of the rarest large mammals on Earth.
AUGUST - Andean Mountain Cat
High in the rocky Andes hides one of the world’s most mysterious wild cats. Rarely seen and still little understood, the Andean mountain cat has adapted to survive in one of South America’s harshest environments.
